Navajo Style Looms

Upright looms have been used for centuries to produce beautiful, tightly woven, weft faced fabrics. Designs can range from highly geometric to pictorial, and are limited only by the weaver's imagination. Typically associated with the Navajos, these looms can also be used to weave the twill and plaid designs favored by the Hopi, or even contemporary tapestry designs.

Randall's looms, unlike their traditional Navajo and Pueblo counterparts, are entirely free standing and the feet can be removed for easy storage. Randall's looms also incorporate pegs on the reverse side making a separate warping frame unnecessary.

Student Looms

Randall's Student Navajo Looms come in kit form, with only minimal assembly required. They are crafted from pine, finished with tung oil and stand 37" tall, 25" wide, and 16" deep. Included with each loom frame are tensioning rope, beams, and shed rods. All the weaver needs to supply are yarn for warp and weft, and a little imagination. The Student Navajo Loom can produce a finished weaving 22" long, and up to 16" wide. The Student Navajo Loom is at home on the floor, but can also be used as a table top loom.
